“Vámonos” (Let’s Go) by La Santa Cecilia, ft. Fito Paez, English translation of lyrics

“Let’s Go” Translated Lyrics
Album: Buenaventura (Good Adventure), 2016
Style: Pop. Cheerful and hopeful love song about taking the leap with another person, sharing the journey of life together. The translation is less literal than usual to keep a similar energy.
Country: USA
Listen: YouTube

Translation:

.

I seek you out
Because you’re my heart, my love, I seek you out
Because the pleasures [of life] don’t interest me,
Nothing is the same if you aren’t around.

Pregunto
.

I ask
If what I feel, we feel together,
I would like to give you the world
And more, and more, to see what happens.

.

By your side I don’t fear anything
Because your eyes give me courage,
Because there isn’t another step without your hand.

El camino acompañado es mejor,
Tú dices a donde quieras y yo voy
Toma mi mano y.
..

The journey shared with another is better,
You say where and I’ll go,
Take my hand and…

.
(x2)

Let’s go soaring, for life is flying by
And it won’t wait for us,
And it’s going to get away from us.
(x2)

[Musical interlude]

.

Without hurry
You’ll give me all your kisses and caresses,
Every time the sun rises and bids farewell again,
I will hug you, never let you go.

.

By your side I don’t fear anything
Because your eyes give me courage,
Because there won’t be another step without your hand [in mine].

El camino acompañado es mejor
Tu dices a donde quieras y yo voy,
Toma mi mano y…

The journey shared with another is better,
You say where and I’ll go,
Take my hand and…

.
(x2)

Let’s go soaring, for life is flying by
And it won’t wait for us,
And it’s going to get away from us.
(x2)

¿Quién dijo que todo está perdido? (Fito…)
Yo vengo a ofrecer,
¿Y quién dijo que todo está perdido?
Yo vengo a ofrecer un corazón
.

Who said all was lost? (Fito…)
I come to offer,
And who said all was lost?
I come to offer a heart.

.
(x2)

Let’s go soaring, for life is flying by
And it won’t wait for us,
And it’s going to get away from us.
(x2)

Translation Notes:

Te busco
Porque eres mi corazón, mi amor, te busco

I seek you out
Because you’re my heart, my love, I seek you out

I search for you
Because you are my sweetheart, my love, I search for you

I decided on informal “seek you out” because it clarifies that the singer is looking for this person’s company and not just their physical location. They are looking for them to spend time with them.

.

Because the pleasures [of life] don’t interest me,
Nothing is the same if you aren’t around.

Because I don’t find joy in the regular pleasures,
Nothing is the same if you are not here.

Without this person, regular life’s joys don’t interest them as much.

By your side I don’t fear anything
Because your eyes give me courage,
Because there won’t be another step without your hand [in mine].

By your side nothing causes me fear
Because it is your eyes that give me courage,
(Knowing) that there won’t be another step without your hand (in mine).

The singer is emboldened by the love in their partner’s eyes, knowing that they will go through life together. This stanza makes this love song a good wedding song option.

El camino acompañado es mejor

The journey shared with another is better

The path accompanied is better

The singer means that going through life with a (loving) partner is better than being alone. They intentionally use similar wording to the Mexican proverb that warns women against staying in abusive relationships:
Mejor sola que mal acompañada
Better alone than in bad company
Better alone than poorly accompanied [*more literally]

However, here the singer has already established earlier that this relationship is good company. Here, they are rejoicing that they found someone with whom to share their life journey. Although it is better to be alone than in bad company, actually finding good company is wonderful.

.

Let’s go soaring, for life is flying by
And it won’t wait for us,
And it’s going to get away from us.

Let’s go flying, for life is going away from us
And it won’t wait for us,
And it will escape from us.

The verb volar means “to fly”, but I used “to soar” because it’s similar enough and that allowed me to use the English colloquialism “flying by” later in the same line. This stanza is the singer inviting their partner to join them, to enjoy life together, and to not waste a moment.

.

Every time the sun rises and bids farewell again,
I will hug you, never let you go.

Every time that the sun comes out (rises) and bids farewell (sets),
I will hug you, I will never let you go.

salir, verb = to come out, to go out, to exit the home. In this context, it refers to the sun rising.

despedirse, verb = to bid farewell, to say goodbye. In this context, it refers to the sun setting.

¿Quién dijo que todo está perdido? (Fito…)
…Yo vengo a ofrecer un corazón.

Who said all was lost? (Fito…)
…I come to offer a heart.

“Fito” refers to the featured singer who joins in this stanza. It is Rodolfó “Fito” Páez, an Argentinian rock and roll musician. His lines question an imaginary depressed person who maybe doesn’t believe in love, asking them who said to lose hope?
