“Las Maravillas de la Vida” (The Miracles of Life) by Los Ángeles Azules, ft. Carla Morrison, English translation of lyrics

“The Miracles of Life” Lyrics
Album: Sin Pecado (Without Sin), 1996
Style: Cumbia love song telling a partner to take it slow so the relationship has time to mature.
Country: Mexico, USA
Listen: YouTube

Translation:

Amor, no quisiera herirte,
Pues tú bien sabes cuánto te quiero.
Necesitamos darle tiempo al tiempo
Porque no quiero que empecemos mal
.

Love, I would not want to hurt you,
After all, you know how much I love you.
We need to give time to time
Because I don’t want us to start off wrong.

Sé bien que lo primordial de nuestra unión
Es el amor
Y por ello hay que hacerlo bien

Para tener un bonito hogar.

I know fully well that the essence of our union
Is love itself
And for love we must do this right
To have a beautiful home.

Por eso ahora no puede ser,
Enfrentar la vida es madurez
Y nos falta poco para contemplar

Las maravillas de la vida.
(x2)

That’s why it can’t be now,
Facing life is maturity
And it’s not much time before we contemplate
The miracles of life.
(x2)

Translation Notes:

Amor, no quisiera herirte,
Pues tú {bien} sabes cuánto te quiero.

Love, I would not want to hurt you,
After all, you know {well} how much I love you.

Love, I wouldn’t want to hurt you,
Since you know {full well} how much I love you.

This song is about slowing down a relationship to avoid making mistakes. The singer prefaces the conversation by telling the other person that they love them and don’t want the relationship to rush and end up in heartbreak.

Necesitamos darle tiempo al tiempo
Porque no quiero que empecemos mal.

We need to give time to time
Because I don’t want us to start off wrong.

The relationship is still very new the the singer wants to give them time to know each other so they can make level-headed decisions about their future.

Sé bien que lo primordial de nuestra unión es el amor
Y por {ello} hay que hacerlo bien para tener un bonito hogar.

I know fully well that the essence of our union is love itself
And for {love} we must do this right to have a beautiful home.

I know fully well that the primal aspect of our relationship is love
And for {it} we must do this right to have a beautiful home.

She knows that the other person also feels love for her. She wants a future with them and she does not want to mess up this relationship. She wants to “do this right”. That could refer to having a plan for the future, or perhaps to getting married before they start a family together. Un hogar is specifically “a home” (where one belongs), not merely “a house” (a building). The noun un hogar in other contexts can also mean “a hearth, a fireplace”.

Por eso ahora no puede ser,
Enfrentar la vida es madurez
Y nos falta poco para contemplar

Las maravillas de la vida.

That’s why it can’t be now,
Facing life is maturity
And it’s not much time before we contemplate
The miracles of life.

In English, “the miracle of life” refers to the gestation and birth of a new life (a baby).

This stanza makes me wonder if the couple is discussing delaying having children or considering ending an existing pregnancy that they were not expecting and don’t feel ready for. It sounds like they want children some day in the future, but not right now. Alternatively, they have an unexpected pregnancy and want to discuss their future together before the baby arrives. They need to be mature enough to make important life decisions and their time is limited. The exact situation is left intentionally ambiguous.
