Lyrics Translation:

[Intro dialogue:]

¿Otra? ¿Nos echamos otra?

Another? Should we do another?

[Lyrics:]

En el canto de las olas,
Encontré un rumor de luz.
Por un canto de gaviotas
Supe que allí estabas tú
.

In the song of the waves,
I found the rumor of a light.
By the cry of the seagulls
I knew you were there.

Despidiendo últimamente
Todo lo que sucedió,
Hoy saludo mi presente
Y gusto de este dulce adiós.

Saying goodbye for the last time
To everything that happened,
Today I greet my present
And rejoice in this sweet goodbye.

Voy a navegar en tu puerto azul,
Quisiera saber de dónde vienes tú.
Vamos a dejar que el tiempo pare,
Ver nuestros recuerdos en los mares,
Y esta soledad tan profunda…

I will navigate into your blue port,
I would like to know where you come from.
We will let time stop,
View our memories in the seas,
And this solitude so profound…

Que en el canto de las olas
Me quisiera sumergir,
Embriagándome en su aroma,
Algo nuevo descubrir
.

That in the song of the waves
I would like to immerse myself,
Getting drunk in its aroma,
Something new to discover.

Voy a navegar en tu puerto azul,
Quisiera saber de dónde vienes tú.
Vamos a dejar que el tiempo pare,
Ver nuestros recuerdos en los mares,
Y esta soledad tan profunda…

I will navigate into your blue port,
I would like to know where you come from.
We will let time stop,
View our memories in the seas,
And this solitude so profound…

Que me cante el mar
Un bolero de soledad.
Que me cante el mar,
Que ando sola, con soledad.

Let the sea sing to me
A bolero of solitude.
Let the sea sing to me,
Because I’m alone, with solitude.

Que me cante el mar
Un bolero de soledad.
Que me cante el mar,
Que ando sola, con soledad,
Soledad y el mar
.

Let the sea sing to me
A bolero of solitude.
Let the sea sing to me,
Because I’m alone, with solitude,
Solitude and the sea.

Translation Notes:

¿Otra? ¿Nos echamos otra?

Another? Should we do another?
Another? Should be throw ourselves another? [*literal]

echar, verb = to throw, to drop, to put…

Que me cante el mar
Un bolero de soledad.

Let the sea sing to me
A bolero of solitude.

A bolero is a poetic and sentimental song in the bolero genre, characterized by waltz-inspired slow dance-style music. It is popular in Cuba and Mexico especially, but also the rest of Latin America. Per Unesco’s article on bolero music:

A cultural amalgam, it combines the language used in European poetry, with African rhythms of enslaved peoples and the sentiments of the native peoples of the Americas.
