“Look at Me” Lyrics Translated
Album: Mírame (Look at Me), 2024
Style: Catchy pop dance song about how they’re doing well after a breakup. Look at them and how they thrive!
Country: Mexico
Listen: YouTube
Translation:
Seguramente te enteraste (¿de qué?)
De que ando terroreando duro (¿por qué?)
Ya me mandaste otro mensaje (ya ves)
Tú sufres porque yo no sufro (otra vez)
Surely you’ve heard (of what?)
That I’m going aggressively hard (why?)
You already sent me another message (you see)
You suffer because I don’t (once again)
What a coincidence that you showed up
When there isn’t a chance to be sad.
They say around there that you regret it
Because now you understand what you’ve lost.
Mírame –
Cómo ahora me dejo querer por otro.
Suéltame –
Tú y yo ya no somos nosotros, yo ya te olvidé,
Y aunque no fue nadita fácil,
Ya me levanté,
Mírame, todo bien.
Look at me –
How I let myself be loved by another now.
Let go of me –
You and I aren’t us anymore, I forgot you now,
And though it wasn’t anything easy,
I’ve lifted myself up,
Look at me, everything’s fine.
Look at me –
‘Cause I don’t rule over broken hearts anymore.
Let go of me –
Erase all our photos already, I already forgot you.
I only want beautiful love like what I gave (you),
Look at me, everything’s fine.
Look at me –
No, it really wasn’t difficult to get over you,
You seeded my heart and never watered it,
Being with you was the same as being with no one,
Better with no one.
Mírame –
Cómo ahora me dejo querer por otro.
Suéltame –
Tú y yo ya no somos nosotros, yo ya te olvidé,
Y aunque no fue nadita fácil,
Ya me levanté,
Mírame, todo bien.
Look at me –

Look at me –
‘Cause I don’t rule over broken hearts anymore.
Let go of me –
Erase all our photos already, I already forgot you.
I only want beautiful love like what I gave (you),
Look at me, everything’s fine.
You spoke poorly of me, no one asked you.
Because I was the best thing that didn’t happen to you,
Now you want to know about my life,
Now when someone else won the lottery.
Hiciste lo peor que me podías hacer,
Rompiste todo lo que se podía romper,
Sabías cuánto te quería,
Y ahora te quedaste sin María.
You did the worst that you could do to me,
You broke everything that could be broken,
You knew how much I loved you,
And now you’re left without Maria.

(Of me, you won’t see anything except my dust.)
Translation Notes:
Seguramente te enteraste (¿de qué?)
De que ando terroreando duro (¿por qué?) *
Surely you’ve heard (of what?)
That I’m going aggressively hard (why?) *
That I’m terrorizing hard (why?) *
That I’m blazing through (why?) *
el terror, noun = terror, fright
terrorear, verb = to terrorize (literally, in the negative sense); to be a badass terror (slang, mostly positive)
It is slang so the translation isn’t perfect but the lyrics mean that her ex heard that she was around and being her badass self.
Tú y yo ya no somos nosotros
You and I aren’t us anymore
She tells her ex that they are not an item anymore, that they do not make an “us” anymore because they are not together anymore, that they are separated forever.
Mírame –
Que ya no mando corazones rotos.
Look at me –
‘Cause I don’t rule over broken hearts anymore.
She is talking about her own heart and the hearts of her exes. She isn’t interested in the past anymore and has moved on with her life. Broken hearts aren’t of any interest to her anymore.
I only want beautiful love like what I gave (you),
Look at me, everything’s fine.
She just wants happiness now. In the past, her relationships were one-sided and she gave love but did not receive it back. She won’t accept that type of relationship anymore. She demands reciprocation and has it now. Look at her life and you’ll see that she is doing well.
No, en realidad no fue difícil superarte,
Sembraste el corazón y nunca lo regaste
No, it really wasn’t difficult to get over you,
You seeded my heart and never watered it
This is a farming and plant metaphor. When you sow a seed, such as when starting a new relationship (the seed of love), you need to take care of that seed in order for a plant to grow and bear fruit (the maturation of a relationship and full love). She tells her ex that he didn’t do that, so despite early sparks, the relationship never took root in her heart. The end of a relationship always comes with some pain, but she was able to move on without long-lasting heartbreak.
[Being with you] {was the same} <as> (being with no one),
Better with no one.
More literal:
{It was the same} [being with you] <as> (with no one),
Better with no one.
More more literal:
{It gave the same result} [being with you] <compared to that of> (with nobody),
Better with nobody.
Of me, [you won’t see {anything}] <except> (my dust)
Word-for-word literal:
Of me, <now> {just} [you will see] (purely dust)
