The noun cariño when applied to a person means “darling” or “honey” or “sweetheart”. In other contexts, it refers to “affection” or “warmth” (of love) itself.
Yo quisiera aunque todo haya [el/yo] olvidado,
Por desgracia llegue el día
En que solo ha de {llorar}.
There is some ambiguity in this stanza due to the missing pronoun and uncertainty over homonyms solo (just/only) vs solo (alone). Here are two possible translations:
I wish that even though he has forgotten everything,
By misfortune come the day
When all he can do is {cry}.
I wish that though I have forgotten everything,
By misfortune come the day
When he must {cry} alone.
I think the “he has forgotten” translation is correct because there is no indication that the singer has forgotten this person in the rest of the song.
The last line (“all he can do is cry” versus “he must cry alone”) could go either way. An earlier line talks about wishing fortune would punish him for his lack of love towards the singer, and either line can point to a punishment: he feels regret and pain over the breakup one day just as the singer does (and cries over it) or he loses a future lover himself and is left crying alone.
