“Share” Lyrics
Album: Mietras Tú Dormías (While You Slept), 2010
Style: Alternative pop/rock, love ballad, soft voiced but strongly projected, understatedly emotional. Sweet melody about wanting to be close to a lover.
Country: Mexico, USA (Arizona)
Listen: YouTube. I learned about this song from the NPR Alt.Latino music blog.
Translation:
Quiero compartir mi silla contigo.
Quiero ver salir el sol y despedirlo.
Quiero caminar y correr a tu ladito.
Quiero buscar y encontrarme a solas contigo.
I want to share my seat with you.
I want to see the sun rise and (then) say farewell to it.
I want to walk and run by your side.
I want to look for and find time alone with you.
Quiero dormir y soñar caricias contigo.
Quiero reír y llorar con tus ojitos.
Quiero compartir mis secretos y mis suspiros.
Quiero aprender a entender al mundo contigo.
I want to sleep and dream of caresses with you.
I want to laugh and cry with my little eyes.
I want to share my secrets and sighs.
I want to learn to understand the world with you.
Pero hay una cosa que te debo decir.
No es nada fácil estar tan lejos de ti.
But there is something that I should tell you.
It is nothing easy being so far from you.
Chorus:
———————————————–
Porque me haces enloquecer.
Tú me enchinas la piel.
Cada parte de tu ser
Es alimento a mi bien.
Because you drive me crazy.
You make my skin goosebump.
Every part of your being
Is nourishment for my well-being.
Vuelvo a respirar
Y comienzo a temblar.
Cada paso que das,
Afrimas mi amar.
I breathe again
And I begin to tremble.
Every step you take,
You reaffirm my love.
———————————————–
Busco dormirme en tus ojos
Y en tus sentidos.
Busco derramar mi querer
Por tus oídos.
I seek falling asleep in your eyes
And in your senses.
I want to pour my love
Into your ears.
Busco rendir mi ser y volar contigo.
Quisiera compartir toda mi vida contigo.
I seek to surrender my being and fly with you.
I would like to share my whole life with you.
Pero hay una cosa que te debo decir.
No es nada fácil estar tan lejos de ti.
But there is something that I should tell you.
It is nothing easy being so far from you.
[Chorus, repeat 2nd stanza]
¡Oh oh!
¡Oh oh oh oh!
¡Uh uh uh!
¡Uh uh uh uh uh!
Translation Notes:
Quiero compartir mi silla contigo.
I want to share my seat with you
I want to share my chair with you [*literal]
—
Quiero caminar y correr a tu ladito.
I want to walk and run by your side.
lado = side; -ito is affectionate
When the -ito suffix is used with words related to time or space, it also sometimes has the added secondary connotation of “very close” or “very small” (as in measuring in small units). Here, the suffix is primarily affectionate, but some of that affection comes from the singer wanting to be close to the person for whom she sings.
—
No es nada fácil estar tan lejos de ti.
It is nothing easy being so far from you. [*literal]
It is not at all easy being so far from you.
—
Cada paso que das, afrimas mi amar.
Every step you take, you reaffirm my love.
Every step you take, you reaffirm my loving. [*lit.]
amar (verb) = to love; loving
—
Busco derramar mi querer {por} tus oídos.
I want to pour my love {into} your ears.
I seek to spill my love {through} your ears. [*alt.]
buscar (verb) = to seek, to look (for something), to search; to seek, to want
derramar (verb) = to spill; to pour
por = by, through
I did not use “through” in the translation of this line because in English this sounds like her love would go in one ear and out the other, and this is not the intended meaning. She means for her love to reach her lover through their ears, i.e. for her lover to hear her words of love.
